A modern kitchen should be able to cater for your every culinary need whilst looking and feeling warm and homely. 'Modern' however, shouldn't be confused with 'Contemporary' as they do have two very specific and contrasting meanings.

'Contemporary' refers to any kitchen that has been created right now and is very much 'of the moment'. This is the most literal meaning of the word and should be used to when speaking about brand new kitchens.

The term 'Modern' however, describes a much wider range of kitchens with a specific design or style that came into being during the mid 1950s, and encompasses all kitchens from that period, right up to the present day.

So, take care not to mix the two.
